Basic Computer Classes Computer Literacy - a basic introduction to computers and how they are used. The student will learn terminology pertaining to the hardware and software. The student will be exposed, through hands-on training, to the operating system, the operating environment, and some application software used by computers today. Prerequisite: None
Intro. to Computers – A basic introduction to computers. This class takes some of the mystery out of computers. You will take a look at a computer front, back, and inside, learning the names of the parts and all will be explained in simple terms. Learning terminology or “computer language” is the first key to successful use of the computer. Prerequisite: None
Internet/Email - An introductory course that includes the applications of the Internet, and E-Mail. You will learn many useful terms, such as cookie, cache, HTTP and FTP; how to navigate to a specific web address; how to work with Favorites and more!. Prerequisite: Windows
Keyboarding - the student will learn to key the alphabetic and numeric keys by touch using proper techniques. Instruction is computerized and individually paced. Prerequisite: None
Operating System Classes How do I know which Operating System I have?
Windows XP— operating systems software that enables the computer to function. This course will supply users with the knowledge to work more efficiently and perform tasks needed for personal operation of the computer. Prerequisite: None
Windows VISTA— introduces the features of Windows Vista. It will familiarize you with the Windows Vista user interface, so that you can confidently start using Windows Vista right away. Prerequisite: None
Windows 7— Microsoft’s NEWEST Operating System!!!! This course will familiarize you with the features and environment of this new operating system, file and folder management, and many new features only offered in Windows 7.
Computer Application Classes Microsoft Office Suite MS Word - the gold standard in business word processing, Microsoft Word offers a multitude of features and tools to help you produce top-notch documents. Students will learn to create various documents, save, open and print documents, set margins, format text and paragraphs, insert headers and footers, work with setting tabs, and even perform a simple Mail Merge using MS Word for Windows. Prerequisite: Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
MS PowerPoint - an introduction to the #1 program used worldwide for presentations. PowerPoint uses a graphical approach to presentations in the form of slide shows that accompany the oral delivery of any topic. This class includes instruction on planning, organizing and producing an effective presentation. Prerequisite: Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
MS Publisher — is Microsoft’s desktop publishing program. Use Publisher to create pages with all kinds of design elements, such as formatted text, photographs, lines, and pictures. With Publisher you can create brochures, newsletters, memos, postcards, envelopes, Web pages, and more. Prerequisite: Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
MS Excel I - Introduces spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel as a powerful tool for managing numerical data and performing calculations. In addition to creating and formatting spreadsheets, the course focuses on built-in functions and graphics. Prerequisite: Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
MS Excel II — continued training in spreadsheet with emphasis on macros, functions, formulas, working with other programs, data analysis and pivot tables. Prerequisite: Excel I
MS Outlook — a suite of applications that perform the following functions: Internet e-mail, scheduling and appointments (calendar), contact management (address book), task management (to do list), and notes (electronic Post-it®). Prerequisite: Proficient Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
MS Access - a powerful database management system (DBMS) that functions in the Windows environment. Includes creating and working with a database, creating tables, queries, forms, and reports. Prerequisite: Proficient Windows skills (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders) and keyboarding.

Digital Photography Classes We recommend taking the digital photography classes in the following order: Introduction to Digital Photography - instruction in composing great pictures, how to transfer and store pictures on a CD, and how to do some simple editing such as red eye removal, cropping and resizing images. Students will even learn how to prepare images for printing, emailing or posting on a web site. Prerequisite: Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
Photo Editing - for those who recognize the benefits of digital photography and need the skill and tools to make the most of their pictures. Learn to improve photos, such as background replacement, cloning within a photo and between photos, cropping and more. Also learn to use and manage layers, filters, edges and more, using Adobe© Photoshop Elements software. Prerequisite: Proficient Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders)
Applications of Digital Photography – Taking your digital photos to the next level, this course explores many options you have in working with your photos. For the regular user of digital photography, you will learn how to edit, manipulate and use your photos in other applications, such as PowerPoint, MovieMaker, PhotoStory and Word. Prerequisite: Proficient Windows skills suggested (the ability to save and retrieve files and folders) and Introduction to Digital Photography
